What is Affidavit of Heirship?

An affidavit of heirship is a simple way to transfer ownership of real property on paper. It is essentially a notice that is filed with the Register of Deeds stating who the new owners of the property are. With the affidavit of heirship real estate immediately vests in the heirs of the decedent. There are however limitations on the ability to sell the property until one year after the date of death.
