What is an Executor?
An Executor (also called a Personal Representative) is the person named in your will to manage your estate after your death. Their role includes gathering assets, paying final expenses, and distributing what remains according to your will. If your estate plan includes a revocable living trust or irrevocable trust and a pour over will, the Executor is responsible for submitting the will to probate if necessary. This allows for important actions like appointing guardians for minor children and transferring any assets that weren’t properly titled in the trust during your lifetime. Those assets are then managed and distributed by your Trustee according to the terms of the trust.
