Will putting beneficiaries on all my accounts avoid probate?
In many cases, yes, it can. Accounts with properly completed beneficiary or “Payable on Death” (POD) designations pass outside of probate, but this doesn’t cover all assets, and it won’t control timing or oversight of distributions. Further, "Payable on Death" beneficiaries are a great initial plan, but if things don't go as you imagine, there can be conflict, delay, exorbinant costs, and other complications.
